Jose Thekkemuriyil

Parish Priest

Father Jose Thekkemuriyil is our Parish Priest. Fr Jose was appointed to the Brisbane archdiocese for a period of six years. At 15, after just having completed Year 10 in his hometown in Kerala in the south of India, Fr Jose received a letter from a priest inviting him to join the CMIs. He accepted the invitation, and spent the next 14-and-a-half years in formation at the seminary.

He completed Years 11 and 12, undertook two years of philosophy, four years of theology, and two years in the novitiate before being ordained at 30.

Fr Jose has inculcated an active participation from the parishioners for Mass and Adorations. Mass is a particularly important sacrament for Fr Jose, who offers each Mass for the intention of the well being of all his parishioners. Hi energetic and vibrant attitude is well resonated and he says "I don't count the numbers in the chapel if there's one that's fine, Mass has the same grace and it will work regardless."

Fr Jose emulates the motto of the parish "Celebrating the joy of the Gospel" through various ways. His visionary leadership and understanding personality will always leave a lasting sense of awe and admiration each time. His charming smile is a constantly present making you feel welcome and loved all at one.
